Bikin river at New Year Eve

On November 3, 2015, the Resolution of the Russian government "About creation of national park "Bikin" was signed. Over 1,16 million hectares of the woods in a river basin Bikin are taken under protection - the key territory for the Udege people and the Amur tiger.

"The forests of Bikin – the Russian Amazon – the largest of the intact forest landscape of temperate forest in the Northern hemisphere keeping 10% of population of the Amur tiger. Creation the system of nature reserves for preservation of our big cat is almost complete with creation of national park "Bikin". It is important that the national park considers interests of indigenous ethnic groups, – Yury Darman, the lead consultant of the Amur branch WWF of Russia, the Honored ecologist of the Russian Federation says. – It is the unique large pool on Sikhote-Alin where wood logging were never conducted and therefore only here it is possible to gain an impression how the Ussuriysk taiga looked the middle of the 19th century".
