Terms and conditions of participation in the contest of children’s drawings
“Crane — Bird of the World” as part of the campaign “Year of Crane — 2020”
The international contest of children's drawings “Crane — Bird of the World” is held as part of the Year of Crane — 2020 and is organized to draw the attention of children and teachers to the value of the species, its biology and the problems of conservation of cranes on a global scale.
Drawings depicting any cranes species living in Eurasia during any period of their life cycle can be submitted to the contest.
1. General info
The International Crane Foundation (ICF) and the Crane Working Group of Eurasia by the initiative of WWF Russia Amur branch have declared 2020 - the Year of Crane, which aims to draw people's attention to the problems of crane conservation, to propose solutions to these problems and engage the population in practical work to preserve rare birds on a global scale.
The Amur basin is the most “crane” region in the world. 6 crane species out of 15 living in the world breed here or stopover during seasonal migration. Cranes are indicators of pure wetlands, valuable natural complexes, sensitive to all changes caused by human activities and climate factors. Fires, drainage and plowing of wetlands, changes in river hydraulic regimes as a result of dam construction, pollution of rivers and lakes as a result of placer gold mining, agricultural production and urbanization all negatively affect cranes and other animals living nearby.
The drawing contest is held in countries with crane breeding or wintering sites such as Russia, China, Mongolia, South Korea and Japan.
